Sweep it All Away



Virgo is the sign voted most likely to turn cleaning into a daily ritual. That makes this New Moon a good one to open the windows, and sweep out the old cobwebby energies. It's a way to move the energies trapped in the corners of a room, or under the bed (dust bunnies).

Many cultures and magical traditions use sweeping, to prepare for ritual. It clears the physical space, and also the energetic space. Sweeping and other random acts of cleaning are satisfying now, to clear out the old, and make room for the new.

Virgo actually coincides with Spring here in Australia so this post is a timely reminder about the ritual of Spring cleaning and renewal. Isn't it amazing how we feel the pull to start cleaning and making things look bright when the warmer weather comes around? And the sweeping connection to ritual - I was watching a doco the other day where a person was being 'swept' with a tiny straw broom to clear their accumulated energy and dispel stress. It was similar to brushing the body only it was done in the aura around the physical body.
